F1 New Point Scoring

by Chris on Mar.24, 2009, under F1

lewis-new-scoringSo Lewis Hamilton complained about scoring, I can see why, he won the 2008 championship by one point coasting around fifth place in Brazil and expected the paying spectators to be happy with his performance……Get real Lewis!!! I have no doubt the young man has potential and the right to be world champion which he has earned but his attitude leaves a lot to be desired and as everybody knows he is not exactly the number one favourite in the pit lane. Oh well the rules have changed yet again and will be introduced in 2010….or NOT!
I have recently seen some British reporters saying there appears to be some form of racism in the proposed new scoring system because they (FIA) do not want Lewis Hamilton to claim a championship. What absolute rubbish is this? Using racism as an excuse for regulation changes is creating the usual sensationalism by idiots within the British press whom have nothing better to do. This issue has never been raised in all the years of formula one but suddenly the cry “Racism” is raised because a British driver with the name of Lewis Hamilton is in the formula? What is next, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Terrorism, come on guys this is Formula One, let’s leave the politics for the politicians. You are really not helping Lewis with this kind of exposure and that will be all I have to say on the subject.

The good news is that FIA “Ill Presidente” Max Mosley will be looking to reduce the super licence fee in 2010, wow!!! Max, can you afford this and what happened to your comments about drivers leaving Formula One if they do not like the new increases? What made him change his mind and what will the reduction be if any at all? Does he have any connections with Gordon Brown?

Driver with most race wins to become 2009 champion – At Last !!!

by Chris on Mar.18, 2009, under F1

Grid Crashing

Grid Crashing

Now we are talking. How often have we heard drivers say to Martin Brundle they race to win? So why the big fuss about this? Championships are won by winners I say and those who get second and third place?……sorry no cigar. This could mean that the winning driver have less points than say the second place man, but if he won more races he should be the champion. Looking at the 2008 Championship it would have meant that Filipe Massa in his Ferrari actually won the championship with 6 wins against Lewis Hamilton’s 5 wins…OOOPS! just imagine that!!!!

As in all sports I am sure the teams are already working out strategy for their drivers and looking at the FIA regulations to see where loopholes exists. Now I wonder what Martin Brundle will say about that!!!!! Click here to see some classic comments made by the man over the past years.

Brawn GP 2009

by Chris on Mar.17, 2009, under F1

brawngp-jenson-1So the real good news is that Ross Brawn GP is progressing well at Jerez and times are favourable with that of Renault and Fernando Alonso. For the first “Official Test” in 2009 this is not bad going. I believe Honda made the right decision in selling out to Ross Brawn because he has the experience to run a F1 team at the highest level. Michael Schumacher stated that Ross Brawn at Ferrari were “very logical and well organised and have a flair to keep the structure and correct people in place”.

His drivers have all the experience to develop and ensure progression and development and his senior management team is still in place. Work never stopped even in the face of impending closure by Honda but I believe it was Ross Brawn that managed to keep a potentially great team intact. I believe Brawn GP have the right to be on the grid at Melbourne and it would be good to see them do well in the first race. Even though Ross thanked Honda for closing a deal with him I believe most F1 enthusiasts felt a sense of relief that Honda did not sell out to USF1 or even Virgin. Had this happened we would not have seen the team at the Melbourne starting grid.

The fact that Mercedes Benz have closed a deal in supplying engines to the Brawn GP Team would be another feather in the cap of Ross and a indication of how others value his contribution to this sport. I look forward to the first race at Melbourne and how this team will perform.

World Superbike 2009 – You have my Attention

by Chris on Mar.10, 2009, under SBK

haga-wins-in-aus-12
If the first round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island is any indication of what we could possibly expect from two wheel racing this season we will be in for a real treat. I will most definitely be following the close racing the SBK Championship supplies.

Max Neukirchner and his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K9 certainly showed “Nitro Nori” Haga and the Xerox Ducati what they can do as did Ben Spies and the Yamaha YZF R1 in the second race of the day. Close, fast and exiting racing which is a must to follow for the real motorsport fan.

I hope that the start of the Moto GP series will follow suit or they might lose some followers and viewers soon.

F1 2009 – USF1

by Chris on Mar.02, 2009, under F1

Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor should have selected an engine and started a car by now if they are serious about next year. I do think this will be a non-starter in the 2010 season and would not mind being wrong but, all we hear is talk and “pie in the sky”. Come on Ken, sponsor decals do not stick to clouds. Running the team from North Carolina might be viable and to a certain point makes sense but we have to start seeing some tangibles.
